Joseph Charles Shatford Memorial Window

Made in 1949 by G. Maile & Son Ltd., London, the choice of subject for this window was a personal one of the donor. He was a Churchman from Kettering and worshipped in the parishes of St. Peter and Paul and St. Andrew. Also note the Bells as Mr Shatford was a ringer.

Thomas Jones Memorial Window

Thomas Jones was vicar of Wellingborough for 40 years from 1603. This window was made in 1910 by James Powell & Sons of Whitefriars London, at the instigation of Revd RG Smeaton, the then vicar. In the window, Thomas Jones is shown preaching to King Charles I, who twice visited the town to take the waters of the Red Well.

Sir Paul Pindar, a Wellingborough native who became ambassador to Turkey, is shown giving silver-gilt communion plate to Jones. This took place in 1634. The story of the bear, and Thomas Jones' imprisonment, is also shown.

The Crèche

This space was converted into a crèche area so that small children can have a space to play during the service. We have also recently re-started a Sunday school.

Mrs Hannah Sparke

Also in the north aisle is a tablet of white marble to the memory of Hannah Sparke, who died on 11th September, 1785 at the age of 107. She was the hero of the Great Fire of Wellingborough.

The chamber over the North Porch has not been restored, but it is of the same shape as that over the south.
